Xiaomi MiFit 9 × Walking Month

Step-by-step
user guide

This guide helps you connect your Xiaomi MiFit 9 band to your phone and check step sync for Walking Month.

1
Prepare your Xiaomi MiFit 9 band

Turn on the band and keep it close to your phone. If the band shows a QR code or pairing screen, continue with the phone app installation.

2
Install the band app

Install or open the Mi Fitness app for pairing the band. In the app, allow the requested permissions for Bluetooth and nearby device connection.

3
Sign in if the app asks you to

If the app asks you to sign in, use your Xiaomi account or create one by following the steps shown in the app.

Warning: your Xiaomi account is different from your Walking Month account.
4
Pair the band with your phone

In the Mi Fitness app, tap the + button in the upper-right corner and choose Add device.

Keep the band close to the phone and wait for the app to find it. Select the device that matches the band shown in the app or on the band screen.

When the confirmation check mark appears on the band screen, tap the check mark to confirm pairing.

On Android: follow the app prompts until the band appears as a connected device.

On iPhone: after confirming on the band, also confirm the phone dialog if the Pair option appears.

5
Install the Walking Month app

Install the official Walking Month app from Google Play or the App Store.

Walking Month is separate from the band app.

Create a new user account using an email address and password. Alternatively, you can use your Facebook or Google account to enter the competition. Then follow the in-app guide, where you can choose your participation package and donate to the Walking Month cause.

6
Check sync

The Walking Month app does not read steps directly from the band. The data is read through the phone's health service:

  • on Android: Google Fit
  • on iPhone: Apple Health
Walking Month reads steps through Google Fit or Apple Health, not directly from the band.

Make sure the band app, the phone's health service, and Walking Month can communicate with each other.

6A — Android: set up Google Fit

When you open Walking Month, it checks whether Google Fit is installed on your phone and prompts you to install it if needed.

After Google Fit is installed:

  1. Open Google Fit from the list of apps.
  2. Choose the sync options shown in the app.
  3. Select the correct Google account.
  4. Grant the required permissions by tapping OK or Allow.
  5. Return to Walking Month and check whether your steps appear correctly.
6B — iPhone: set up Apple Health

Apple Health is preinstalled on iPhone, but you must check that it has the required permissions for steps.

  1. Open the band app (Mi Fitness).
  2. Connect Health if the app asks for it.
  3. Grant the required permissions.
  4. Open Apple Health.
  5. Check that the band app appears as a data source for steps.
  6. Check that step access is enabled.
  7. Return to Walking Month and check step sync.

Using the band for Walking Month

After connecting the band to the Mi Fitness app and checking sync, your steps should reach Walking Month through Google Fit or Apple Health.

For the competition, the important information is the correctly synced step count.

Band → phone Mi Fitness syncs your steps
Android Mi Fitness → Google Fit → Walking Month
iPhone Mi Fitness → Apple Health → Walking Month

If the band does not connect

Check the following:

  1. The band is close to the phone.
  2. Bluetooth is enabled on the phone.
  3. The Mi Fitness app has the required permissions.
  4. The band is not already connected to another phone.
  5. The app is open and pairing is started from the app, not directly from the phone's Bluetooth settings.
