1. What is Walking Month?
Walking Month is a charity walking competition in which participants track their physical activity (number of steps or distance covered) to contribute to a social cause. The purpose of the competition is to support the community and promote an active lifestyle.
2. Who organizes the competition in Romania?
The competition is organized by Betfair Romania Development S.R.L. in partnership with Banca Transilvania, with the support of Cluj-Napoca City Hall and local partners.
3. What cause is supported in Romania in 2026?
The funds raised during this edition support a project run by Educalise, through which 500 pupils and young people from rural areas will benefit from 250 hours of practical workshops and complementary education.
4. Who can take part?
The competition is open to people who are at least 18 years old by the registration deadline and who have their domicile or tax residence in Romania.
5. Is participation free of charge?
Participation does not involve a standard registration fee. However, participants must choose a participation package (Basic or Premium). The package includes the donation to the partner NGO and is required in order to validate the registration.
6. Where does the donation go?
The donation is transferred in full to the partner NGO (Educalise). The organizers do not manage these funds.
7. Does the donation influence the chances of winning?
No. The ranking and prizes are determined exclusively by each participant’s performance (number of steps or distance covered).
8. How do I register?
Registration is done through the Walking Month app, available in the App Store and Google Play: download the app, create an account, choose your participation package and complete the donation.
9. What is the competition period?
Registrations are open between 12 May and 4 June 2026, and the competition takes place between 8 June and 9 July 2026.
10. Can I take part if I am not in Romania?
Yes. If you have your domicile or tax residence in Romania, you can participate regardless of where you are physically located.
11. Can I take part with multiple accounts?
No. Participation is individual and each person must use a single account.
12. Can I take part without choosing a package?
No. Choosing a package is mandatory in order to validate participation.
13. What happens if I do not complete the payment?
Your registration will not be validated and you will not be able to take part in the competition.
14. Can I change my package after registering?
No. Once registration has been completed, the selected package remains valid.
15. Is there a limited number of packages available?
Yes. Certain benefits, especially those included in the Premium package, may be limited depending on availability.
16. What is the difference between Basic and Premium?
The Basic package costs RON 99 and represents a 100% donation to the supported cause. The Premium package costs RON 299 and includes: a 100% donation to the supported cause, a Xiaomi Smart Band 9 Active fitness band and a Walking Month logo pin.
17. What benefits do I receive?
Participants who choose the Premium package also receive a Xiaomi Smart Band 9 Active fitness band and a Walking Month logo pin.
18. Can I make the donation separately?
Yes, but in order to validate participation, the donation must be associated with the registration and made during the registration period.
19. Can I take part individually?
Yes, individual participation is possible.
20. Can I form a team?
Yes, you can form teams of 2, 3 or a maximum of 4 people to compete together.
21. Can I change teams after the competition starts?
No. Once the competition has started, teams can no longer be changed.
22. What happens if I do not have a team?
You can take part individually or choose to be randomly assigned to a team.
23. Do I still have a chance in an incomplete team?
All participants have equal chances in the individual ranking.
24. How does the competition work?
Participants accumulate steps throughout the competition period, and the ranking is determined based on the total number of steps.
25. How are steps tracked?
Steps are automatically imported from health apps (Apple Health or Health Connect) or entered manually.
26. Can I take part without a fitness band?
Yes, if your phone has a step-counting function.
27. Can I use multiple devices?
This is not recommended, as data discrepancies may occur.
28. What happens if I change my phone?
You can continue participating if the data is synchronized correctly.
29. Are other activities counted?
No. Only steps or the equivalent distance are taken into account.
30. Is there a daily limit for steps or distance covered?
There is no limit, but unusual values will be checked.
31. Can I manually edit my steps?
Yes, but only for the last 3 days and only once for each day.
32. What happens if I forget to enter my steps?
You can enter them retroactively within the limits set by the rules (maximum 3 days).
33. Can I win with manually entered steps?
Yes, but manually entered steps will be subject to additional checks.
34. Are there anti-fraud checks?
Yes. The organizers may check the data and request proof.
35. What happens if there are major differences between the number of steps recorded by devices and the number of steps entered manually?
Screenshots or other evidence may be requested, in accordance with the rules.
36. What types of rankings are there?
There is an individual ranking, a team ranking and a Companies’ Challenge ranking.
37. What are Walkers and Superwalkers?
Participants who reach an average of at least 25,000 steps per day over the full month of the competition earn Superwalker status. Those who average fewer than 25,000 steps per day are Walkers. Participants will be assigned to one of the two categories after the end of the competition, based on the number of steps recorded.
38. Can I see my progress in real time?
Yes, the app displays progress and rankings.
39. What are Achievements?
Achievements are badges that mark the completion of weekly goals.
40. Do the Walker and Superwalker categories influence the ranking?
To ensure fair chances for all participants, the prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place will be awarded separately for the Walker and Superwalker categories.
41. What prizes are awarded?
Prizes vary depending on the partners and will be officially announced during the competition and at the awards gala.
42. How are winners validated?
Winners are validated by checking activity data and, if necessary, by requesting additional proof.
43. How do I receive the prizes?
Prizes are offered by the partners, at the awards gala and based on the data provided.
44. Do I have to pay for a prize?
No, but usage conditions set by the partners may apply.
45. Can I win more than one prize?
This depends on the specific rules of each category.

49. Is there a competition for companies?
Yes. The Companies’ Challenge is intended for legal entities in Romania that choose to support their employees’ participation in the competition by making a donation, under a sponsorship agreement, directly to the partner NGO and the supported cause. This category rewards the company with the most active employees. Participants enter the competition and collect steps individually or in teams, while the company appears in the Companies’ Challenge rankings, with weekly updates and a final ranking at the end of the competition.
50. How is the score calculated?
The average number of steps per employee, adjusted with a bonus.
51. If I participate through my company, can I also take part in a team?
Yes, participation works the same for everyone, regardless of whether registration is individual, through the app or through a company as part of the Companies’ Challenge.
52. What is the Referral program?
The Referral & Ambassadors program is open to all registered Walking Month participants. Each registered participant receives a unique referral link in the app, which they can share with friends to use when registering. Depending on the number of valid referrals generated, the participant can become a Bronze Ambassador (5 valid referrals), Silver Ambassador (10 valid referrals) or Gold Ambassador (15 valid referrals). 53. Are there fair-play rules?
Yes, including the prohibition of falsifying steps or cheating.
54. Can I lose a prize?

55. Is the competition safe?
Participants must adapt their level of effort to their own health condition.
56. Can I take part if I have medical issues?
Yes, but consulting a doctor is recommended. The organizers are not liable for any injuries sustained during the competition.

58. What happens in case of technical issues?

60. Can I invite friends after registering?
Yes, you can invite your friends to register as well.
61. Are there penalties for inactivity?
